The music of Kathy Bennett and Thom Perkins, Bennett & Perkins, is an exercise in storytelling with many of their songs set in the greater Conway area, their home base. Their songs share lost loves, lost lives and real life adventure, coupled with haunting harmonies and memorable arrangement of vocals and guitar. Whether it's a song about traveling to Cape Breton to a country dance or a love story between a man and his long-lost wife, their songs evoke a strong emotional response from the audience.

M&D Productions to Host an Evening with Bennett & Perkins

M&D Productions, a community theater based in North Conway, NH, will host an evening of music with folk duo Bennett and Perkins on Sunday, Aug. 21st from 6-8pm.  The theater is located at 1857 White Mountain Highway on Route 16.

Tickets for the concert are $10 and include buffet supplied by Rafferty's Restaurant & Pub. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling 603-662-7591.

The evening is the third in a series of the new “An Evening with ...” concerts at M&D. The series was designed for audiences to hear the work of local musicians in an intimate setting without the crowds and noise found in clubs and taverns.

Bennett & Perkins, a popular folk duo, have been touring regionally this summer and receiving increasing radio airplay throughout New England. They were featured artists on Kate McNally's Folk Show on New Hampshire Public Radio in December.

Having started performing together in 2008, Bennett & Perkins released their first CD, The Kitchen Music Sessions, in the summer of 2010. The pair performs a bold repertoire of original music as well as their distinctive interpretation of American and traditional music that highlights their unique vocal and instrumental talents. Their performance will include songs by artists as diverse as Richard Shindell to Karla Bonoff to Hoyt Axton; plus a growing number of original tunes that hold their own.

Bennett & Perkins both bring vocal and guitar playing abilities to the stage. But what makes their music special is how their individual strengths so well complement each other.

Bennett and Perkins have been frequent performers throughout New England, including multiple appearances at Ossipee Valley Music Festival, Maine’s largest acoustic music festival and most recently performed as part of the Arts Jubilee concert series in North Conway.
